Paradise Valley Hospital was just named one of the nation’s “Top Performers on Key Quality Measures” by The Joint Commission—and is the only hospital in San Diego County to be named a “Top Performer” four years in a row.

Paradise Valley Hospital was one of 1,224 hospitals nationwide to meet or exceed the target rates of performance in 2013. In California, 86 hospitals were named “Top Performer” in at least two categories.

According to The Joint Commission, Paradise Valley was recognized for exemplary performance in using evidence-based clinical processes that are shown to improve care for four conditions: heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.

“Paradise Valley’s accomplishment as the only hospital to achieve this prestigious recognition four years in a row in San Diego was made possible through the dedication, commitment, and clinical skills of our physicians and employees,” said Neerav Jadeja, Paradise Valley Hospital administrator.

To be named a “Top Performer,” Paradise Valley Hospital had to meet or exceed 95% performance on a composite score for all reported accountability measures; meet or exceed 95% performance on each and every reported accountability measure where there are at least 30 denominator cases; and have at least one core measure set with a composite rate of at least 95%.

Jadeja added, “Combined with being ranked among the Top 100 Hospitals in the Nation in 2014 by Truven Health, Paradise Valley Hospital has become nationally recognized for patient safety and quality care. We are pleased to offer South Bay residents this caliber of healthcare.”

The Joint Commission is the leading accreditor of healthcare organizations in America.
