Out of all the hospitals in California, only 10 have been recognized by The Joint Commission for a 5-year accomplishment. Paradise Valley was the only San Diego hospital to be included in the list.

The Joint Commission just recognized 10 California hospitals that have been Top Performers on Key Quality Measures for five consecutive years. Among those 10, Paradise Valley Hospital was the only hospital in San Diego to be included on the list. The hospital has been named to The Joint Commission’s list since it was first created five years ago, including recognition on the 2015 list—the hospital was named a “Top Performer” again for its exceptional medical standards.

The list was released on Nov. 17 in the 2015 America’s Hospitals: Improving Quality and Safety report, naming the 10 “Top Performers” in California who secured inclusion for five straight years.

Paradise Valley stood out for the San Diego area, earning recognition for six different measures, including Heart Failure, Heart Attack, Pneumonia, Surgical Care, Perinatal Care, and Immunization.

Mark Chassin, president and CEO of The Joint Commission, believes the achievement is a demonstration of these leading hospitals’ commitment to “assuring that evidence-based interventions are delivered in the right away and at the right time—because it’s the right thing to do for patients.”

Being selected to the “Top Performers” list is a serious accomplishment, as hospitals are evaluated on nearly 50 different accountability measures regarding their evidence-based care processes and progressive patient outcomes. To achieve the recognition, a hospital must successfully meet or surpass 95% performance for all accountability measures. There are also several other stipulations that must be met for a hospital to qualify.

Paradise Valley is committed to offering the best patient care and services in all of San Diego, something that has now been recognized on a national level for five consecutive years.

“When unbiased, outside organizations recognize the level of care we provide based on extensive performance data, San Diegans can rest assured they’re receiving the best care in town. We’re proud of the caliber of care we offer here at Paradise Valley Hospital,” said Hospital Administrator Neerav Jadeja.
